Spring Rolls ($4), Beef Short Ribs ($9)
Confirmed that ownership has changed since I was last here, about 6 months ago. Overall, the restaurant furniture, carpet, and paint are different than when I was last here. My impression is this is a family restaurant, owned and run by the owners and their family. James was my server.
Two Spring rolls came out promptly. Freshly made, 3 good size shrimp on the top of each, showing through the translucent rice wrapper. Served with a peanut sauce, with crushed peanuts sprinkled on top. Beautiful and delicious! Portion serves two adults.
The beef short ribs are why I come here! There are about 10 somewhat small (approx 2" square) and thin slices (probably started at at about 1/4" before cooking) of gently spiced beef, cooked quickly over a hot fire. The slight burning serves to nicely enhance the flavor. Served with the bone still in. I have found the most efficient way to eat this is to not use a knife and fork or chop sticks, but rather to pinch the thin piece of bone using thumb and index finger, and chew the meat "paddle" off the bone. Delicious and memorable; you will remember this flavor for a very long time. Comes with a clear vinegar and spice dipping sauce, which compliments everything. Comes with bowl shaped sticky rice. Comes with a salad of Cucumber, a whitish fibrous veggie which looks like Jicama, and a slice of Tomato. Portion serves 1.5-2 adults.
When done, walk up to the register to settle up.
Again, this restaurant serves as an extremely memorable gift to yourself - and a possible guest, if you are in the area.
