2/8/08 - How to Quickly and
Efficiently Search the Internet
It can sometimes be frustrating to search for something on the
internet. You end up with too much information and can't find exactly
what you want. Here are some tips to make your surfing more rewarding.
-
Bring up your favorite search tool (Google,
MSN,
GoodSearch,
Dogpile,
AltaVista, etc.)
-
Use Quotes to highlight words which must go
together. For example, a search for Gail Eddy on Google will bring
up 367,000 results, while a search for "Gail Eddy" will only
bring up 353.
-
Use a Minus sign to indicate words you do not
want to see in your search. For example, I'm not a realtor so I
enter -re/max
-
Use a Plus sign to ensure that you see only
the results you want. For example, to see what I have done with the
Nederland Library, I will enter +Library
If you
need assistance with anything related to your computer, we'll be glad to
help. Make an appointment in the next five days and we'll take $25 off
