When you’ve got Tech Trivia Questions, we’ve got answers! As someone who has been using computers since the late-1980s, I’ve seen a lot of changes in this industry.
My first “laptop” was so heavy that it left indentations in my shoulder as I carried it through the airports. Chris called it a “luggable”. It ran using the MS-DOS Operating System which was introduced in 1981 (MicroSoft – Disk Operating System).
Speaking of Windows, Chris got a beta version of Windows 3.0 that he installed on his home computer. I liked it and found it easy to use. However, when I asked my boss for permission to purchase it for my work computer, she wanted to know why. When I said it would allow me to work on more than one document at a time, she laughed and said, “When will you ever need to work on two documents at once?” Those were the days before multi-tasking!
We purchased our first printer in the late 1990s. It was an HP LaserJet. It cost a fortune but lasted until we sold it, still working great, in 2010 or 2011. And, yes, HP still made replacement toner cartridges for it.
